Thinset removal in a Holly Springs kitchen

After the tile comes up
Remove the mortar left behind.
Tile removal often leaves hard mortar ridges and bonded patches on the slab. We assess the remaining thinset, access and plans for the new floor, then quote the grinding needed.
Dust control at the tool
On this Holly Springs kitchen project, a Bosch diamond grinder was connected to a HEPA vacuum. Plastic containment added protection between the kitchen and adjoining spaces.
Common questions
Before your thinset removal project.
Can you remove thinset after the tile is already gone?
Yes. We can quote thinset removal as a separate job when the tile has already been removed.
How do you control dust during grinding?
We connect the grinder to HEPA vacuum extraction and plan protection around the work area. Plastic containment can provide additional separation from adjoining rooms.
Will the slab need more preparation before new flooring?
That depends on the flooring being installed and the condition of the slab. Your installer may recommend patching, leveling or other preparation after thinset removal.
What do you need for an estimate?
Send the project location, approximate square footage, photos of the remaining mortar and your plans for the new flooring.
