Below you can see our process from start to finish. We handled professionally packing out the client's furniture into a storage container, then preparing the home with thorough plastic masking and dust protection. Once ready, we scored the entirety of the engineered glue down hardwood with our circular saw, set to the exact depth of the hardwoods (avoiding the concrete subfloor). The scoring allows the tongue and groove hardwood floor to weaken, letting us gradually be able to remove the flooring in small pieces with the help of industrial equipment.
After removing the hardwoods entirely, you can always expect to be faced with a layer of glue residue and bits of hardwood scrap left over. It is very important to then take time to scrape and grind the concrete subfloor clean so that you can properly install new flooring over it. It is not only important to make sure the subfloor will meet all manufacturer requirements of the new flooring for adhesion and surface prep.
After all the glue residue is removed, there is likely still very many dents or chunks missing in the concrete due to the intense demolition work. We always take time to apply self leveling compound to the entire slab to bring it all back to being dead level and flat. This will assure your new flooring manufacturer's install requirements are met, and no warranties will be voided of it.
After installing the new hardwoods, we cap off the perimeter with new shoe molding and also caulk and paint the baseboard so it looks fresh. After all the construction and finishing, we provide a professional cleaning service to get any lingering dust out and provide a professional result to our client. Once we are clean and dust free, we professionally move the furniture back into the home.
